Dare to dream

I want you to DREAM.

I want 2020 to be the turn of a page for you, to be the start of a brand new chapter in your life.

You can’t turn back time. No one can, so whatever mistakes you made, stop dwelling on them because there is no point in crying over spilled milk. Recognise your error, make your peace with it, learn from it and move on.

Whatever person you’re holding on to that doesn’t give you the RESPECT and love you so much DESERVE, drop them. You don’t need them.

We all have goals we want to achieve but the only way to make sure your dreams materialise, is if you start working on them.

If you want to lose weight, unfollow all those Instagram models who are making you feel like shit and take action to make positive changes for your body and health.

Start by one healthy meal. Start by getting off your couch and go for a walk around the block.

Simply start.

Don’t wait for tomorrow, do it now because mindset is everything. Don’t let your mind trick you into “oh I’ll do it tomorrow”, or “I’ll do it later after I do x, y and z”.

NO! Don’t fall for it!

Your brain is a muscle and it’s designed to protect you from what it perceives as harm. If you feel anxious or nervous, your brain will abide and make you think “you don’t need to go around the block. It’s so comfy and warm in here. Why would you want to change that?”

The truth is… If you really want to change, you’re the only one who can do that.

To see actual change, you need to get out of your comfort zone.

Your body needs to move and needs healthy nutrition to be able to function properly.

You need to understand that your body IS YOU! There is no separation.

YOU are your biggest life project and your body is your home since the day you were born, until the day you die.

If you love living in a nice home, with beautiful curtains, a comfy sofa where you feel your best-self, you need to use that same principle towards your body. It’s your home.

We all love browsing Pinterest and see those amazing houses with a decor that we only dream of and think “I wish that was my house”.

If you had a million dollars, you would buy that house, make it the most beautiful ever and would proudly flash it on Instagram. You would boast about it to your friends and family and would invite them over for a party.

So, why not treat your body in the same way? Trust me, you are worth so much more than the most expensive house in the world. You are you. Unique and created just like God intended to.

It’s daring to dream. Sometimes, even I pull myself of dreaming too big but then I remember; because I dreamed and believed, I MANIFESTED everything I have. Which, newsflash, is everything I ever wanted.

My dreams have always been, somehow, simple.

I wanted my own home. A job I loved and that paid well enough to pay the bills, a few treats every now and again, and maybe some holidays abroad. I never intended to be a millionaire because money was never my motivation.

I dreamed of a husband that loved me like I was the only one in the world.

And… I wanted to be happy. Ridiculously happy! Being happy has always been my number one goal in life.

I can’t remember how many times I’ve cried out to God and said “will I ever be happy?”.

For YEARS, I felt miserable. I was anxious, insecure about my body, felt unworthy of my jobs even though I had the knowledge, qualifications and expertise to do it.

In life, I crossed paths with some really cruel people, which for whatever reason – even before getting to know me – decided they didn’t like me and made me a target.

That’s something I will never understand. How people can use so much of their time, focus and energy hating someone they don’t know, when they could be doing something productive that would bring happiness and joy into their own lives?

This Summer, I felt a bit lost because I felt I had achieved the goals I worked so hard for and had been so focused on for so many years, expect for one thing.

I’ve always wanted 3 children. I have one biological daughter, one bonus kid by marriage, and one who I also consider a son who lives far away in Burkina Faso.

Maybe this is not how I imaged having three kids but sometimes life works out differently to how you imagine. I’m not complaining, though.

My best friend is pregnant with a little girl, who no doubt, will be absolutely spoiled by her favourite Auntie. Me!

My goals may be seen as simple, but the point I’m trying to make is that I worked HARD and I achieved what I proposed myself to do. You can do too.

Especially, mentally. THAT was the hardest work of all and it still is.

I did counselling throughout the years, read books for personal development, listened to podcasts and started meditation.

This FORCED me to look inside my deepest fears and pains, and confront them.

I went to a place, mentally, where not many people adventure themselves to go. As a result, I cried, my anxiety was through the roof but I had to do it. It was the only way I could heal. And I did and made it out on the other side.

Stronger and with a lot less emotional baggage.

In 2020, I’m dreaming again. Back to the drawing board and my only goal in life right now is to help others achieve whatever their hearts desire.

I don’t care about money. I genuinely don’t. For me, there is a lot more satisfaction in knowing you’ve done something positive for the world, than in any pay check.

I’m not saying money isn’t important, because it is. But it’s your attitude towards money that will define how you behave no matter how little or how much you have.

I know what it’s like to feel sad, lost and made feel worthless.

The good news is, I also know that none of that defines me and it doesn’t define you either.

In 2020, dare to dream.

Dare to take that one step that scares the shit out of you but you know, it will bring you joy!

Be unapologetically YOU because the only person you have to stay true to, is yourself.
